We do not routinely contact you if your test results are normal. If the doctor requests to see you as a result of your test, then you will be contacted to make an appointment. When you attend for a test of any kind, you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results.
Getting your test results
If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your SystmOnline account
- by phoning us on 01453 825 690 after 2pm when the receptionists will have more time to help you
Receptionists will only be able to assist you with results received which have been seen by the doctor and marked as “normal, no action required inform patient”.
Please do not ask the receptionists any questions regarding your tests as they are not clinically trained and will not be able to assist you.
Confidentiality
We do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
Pathology samples
If the doctor or nurse has asked you to provide a pathology sample (e.g. urine, stool, sputum) these must be left at reception before 12:30pm, Monday-Friday.
Questions about your results
If you want to talk to someone about your results, fill out a test results request form and someone will be in touch.
